Parkside Updates & Information 1/15/26

Hello Parkside Families,

Please remember that tomorrow, Friday, January 16th is an 11:15 dismissal and Monday, January 19th is a school holiday.  Please encourage your child to do an act of service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and to show their leadership and initiative in the community!  Picking up trash, offering to help elderly relatives or neighbors, or helping around the house are all great ways to support our children in learning to do good things for the benefit of the community around us!

From the School Counseling Department:

Parkside Food Bank - If your family is in need of food, you can email parksidefooddrive@gmail.com for info on the hours of operation.  The food bank is located at the Parkside Fire Station.

Coming back from Winter Break is sometimes hard!  Reach out the Ms. Sayre if we can help improve your child's morning routines to support on-time arrival to school.  It is our goal to improve our "on-time" percentage and to keep lateness to a minimum so that students don't miss there morning learning at school.  If you are having a hard time getting your child to school on time, I can help! nsayre@pdsd.org

From the School Nurse:

It’s that time of year, again—cold and flu season will be here before we know it and we’ve already seen the “Back to School” germs take their toll on some.  Remind your child that hand-washing and using good hygiene practices will help stop the spread of germs!  Please remember that if your child has a fever, they should remain home from school until they are fever-free without medication.  They should also stay home if they have been vomiting or have diarrhea.  Once they are symptom-free for 24 hours, they may return.

Mobile Dentist:

The mobile dentist is coming to Penn-Delco, for more information, CLICK HERE.

Tech Tip from Technology Teacher, Ms. Cameron:

Digital Kindness and Respect Online
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. January is a good time to talk about kindness and respect online. Our digital citizenship pledge says that we will remember that there is a real person on the other side of the screen. Children should know that teasing, excluding others, or spreading rumors online can cause real harm. Technology can also be a powerful tool for encouraging others and sharing positive messages.
Action step: Challenge your child to send one kind or encouraging message online (or off) this week—to a classmate, friend, or family member.

PTL will hold the next meeting on February 11th, 2026 at 6:30 in the Cafeteria, please attend and offer your support.  Some upcoming requests for parent volunteers include selling Lolligrams and "Rock Your Socks" in lunches in February and March.  Check out the PTL Facebook for links to sign ups and more.

Next PTL Meeting:  Wednesday, February 11th, 2026 at 6:30 in the Parkside Cafeteria
